Guidelines

When we meet each week to meditate together, we honor each other’s practice and this moment as it arises and passes away. It is a precious and sacred time; an opportunity for us to focus on arriving here and now.

I offer these guidelines to support our practice together and invite you to follow them as best you can.

Overall Guidelines

  • Arrive between 9:45 and 10am
  • Take the intention to remain present both physically and mentally for the entire meeting.
  • No fees (We ask for dana when we have a guest teacher – only once or twice a year.)

In Person Guidelines

  • Turn your cellphone off, on airplane mode or on silent. Leave it in the car if possible.
  • No outdoor shoes in the house.
  • Let me know you’ll be attending in person by 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Online Guidelines

  • Turn on your video. Keeping your screen on while meditating helps foster connection to the group. (This is a very loose guideline. It’s okay to connect without video, because tech is well, tech.)
  • Only unmute to speak.
  • Turn your cellphone off, on airplane mode or on silent. Put it in another room if possible.

One Rule

Don’t come in person if you have a cold or any other virus. Or are living with someone who has a virus.

Exceptions

Except for the one rule, these are only guidelines. However, if we set the intention to follow these guidelines, hopefully exceptions will arise less often. Ehipassiko.*

A Deep Bow to You

Meditation, while simple, is not easy. Yet it is easier together. As the Buddha is reported to have said, “This is the entire spiritual life, Ānanda, that is, good friendship, good companionship, good comradeship.”

Thank you so much for being a part of our group. I look forward to and deeply appreciate our time together every week.
Boundless well wishes!

*come and see for yourself
